Fayez Ullah Sihab Makes History as the First Expatriate Bangladeshi to Represent the Qatar National Cricket Team

Fayez Ullah Sihab, a cricketer from Brahmanbaria, has made history as the first expatriate Bangladeshi to represent the Qatar national cricket team.

A left-arm fast-medium bowler, Sihab became well known for his accurate and effective bowling and earned the nickname “Cutter Sultan.”

Born in Moulvibhati, Kazipara, Brahmanbaria, he was first selected for the Qatar national team in 2010. Although he received the call-up, passport-related problems prevented him from making his international debut before the Asian Games.

Sihab officially joined the Qatar national team in 2015 and made his international debut against Saudi Arabia. He later represented Qatar in Singapore, where the team won the series 5-0. He also took part in tours of South Africa and Kenya.

Between 2010 and 2019, Sihab was a regular performer in the Qatar Premier Division Cricket League, where he established himself as one of the league’s most reliable pace bowlers. He represented Qatar at the international level from 2015 to 2018.

In 2019, he returned to Bangladesh because of family matters. The COVID-19 pandemic then interrupted his plans, and he was unable to return to Qatar to continue his international career.

Sihab’s journey from a Bangladeshi-born cricketer to an international player for Qatar is a proud achievement for the Bangladeshi expatriate community. His story continues to inspire young Bangladeshi cricketers living abroad, showing that hard work and determination can create opportunities on the global stage.
