Hansi Flick breaks silence on new striker at Barcelona

There are only 11 days left until the end of the summer transfer window. In the meantime, Barcelona is trying to bring in a new striker to strengthen its attack. Julian Alvarez is at the top of the club's list of favorites. The Catalan club is waiting for Atletico Madrid to make a decision on him.

Barcelona has given Atletico a 72-hour deadline for Alvarez. If the Spanish club's position is not clear by this time, the current La Liga champions will move on to an alternative route.

After the last match of the pre-season, coach Hansi Flick also said that his team needs another striker before the start of the new season. However, the German coach did not mention the name of any specific player.

Flick said that the club's sporting department is working on bringing in new players and that the entire process is being overseen by sporting director Deco. The Barca coach also praised Deco's work in the transfer market.

Despite the ongoing discussions over the futures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, Barcelona have already realised the need to add another ‘number nine’ to their attack. Deco has also said that the club is planning to bring in new players towards the end of the transfer window.

Asked about the possibility of a new striker after winning the Gamper Trophy, Flick said, ‘We are working on adding new players. Deco is taking care of that.’

Meanwhile, young striker Hamza Abdelkarim has given Flick reason to be optimistic in pre-season. The 18-year-old Egyptian forward has scored four goals in the pre-season. He has also impressed against his former club Al Ahly.

Satisfied with Hamza’s performance, Flick praised him and said, ‘Hamza is a very good striker. He has a great ability to connect with crosses. Today I saw him try to hold on to the ball, which is very positive. I want to see that from him.’

However, despite Hamza’s good performances, the addition of an experienced and established forward to Barca’s plans is becoming more important. One of the main concerns for Barcelona is now to make a final decision on Alvarez before the transfer window closes.
