Harry Kane Scores as Bayern Munich Beat Augsburg 2-1 to Return to Bundesliga Winning Ways

Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 victory over newcomers SV Eversberg on Sunday, with Harry Kane scoring the decisive goal.

Eversberg, playing against German football's most successful club in the Bundesliga for the first time, produced a spirited performance and made life difficult for Vincent Kompany's side.

After the hosts equalised in the second half, Bayern responded quickly, with Kane's individual brilliance restoring their lead and securing all three points.

Bayern take an early lead

Eversberg started confidently after winning their opening two league matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach.

However, Bayern made the most of their first major opportunity in the 26th minute. Lennart Karl reacted quickest from close range to put the visitors ahead.

Bayern held their 1-0 advantage until half-time.

Eversberg level the match

The hosts came out with greater attacking intent after the break and were rewarded in the 61st minute when they equalised.

The goal gave Eversberg renewed belief that they could earn a historic result against Bayern.

But Bayern responded strongly.

Michael Olise came close to restoring the lead in the 70th minute when his effort struck the post. Just two minutes later, Harry Kane put Bayern back in front.

The England captain produced a superb piece of individual skill before finding the net to make it 2-1.

Kane has now scored four goals in all competitions this season.

Bayern return to winning ways

Bayern began their Bundesliga title defence with a convincing 5-1 victory over Stuttgart. They then followed that with another win before being held to a goalless draw away at Schalke last week.

The victory over Eversberg means Kompany's side are back on the winning track.

Bayern now have seven points from three matches, with two wins and one draw, leaving them fourth in the Bundesliga table. Augsburg also have seven points and sit third.

Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund occupy the top two positions with perfect records of nine points from three games.

RB Leipzig are fifth with six points, while Eversberg are sixth with the same number of points.
