West Indies pacer Jayden Seales delivered a sensational spell to lead the hosts to a dominant 90-run victory over Pakistan in the opening Test. Chasing 211, Pakistan were bundled out for just 120 in their second innings, with Babar Azam’s unbeaten 58 serving only as a consolation.

Resuming Day 4 at 126/7, West Indies stretched their lead through useful contributions from Shamar Joseph (38) and Kemar Roach (18) before being dismissed for 181.

Pakistan’s chase fell apart almost immediately. Imam-ul-Haq departed for 3, and the visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals, collapsing to 71/9 and effectively ending any hopes of a comeback.

Babar Azam fought a lone battle, reaching his 32nd Test fifty and adding an unbeaten 49-run stand with last man Mohammad Abbas, who made 23. However, the resistance was short-lived as Pakistan’s innings ended on 120.

Seales was the chief destroyer with outstanding figures of 5 for 20, while Roach and Justin Greaves chipped in with two wickets each.

Earlier, Shan Masood’s century was the only major highlight for Pakistan, who lost their last six wickets for just 38 runs in the first innings. West Indies replied with 311 to take a crucial 29-run lead and carried that advantage through to a convincing victory.

The second and final Test of the two-match series will begin on Sunday.
