Julian Alvarez Sidelined Again With Injury, Misses Atletico Madrid Clash at Real Sociedad

Julian Alvarez has suffered another setback at a difficult moment in his Atletico Madrid career. The Argentina forward has been ruled out of Atletico's La Liga trip to Real Sociedad after picking up a muscle injury.

Atletico confirmed that Alvarez was unable to travel to San Sebastian because of the muscular problem. He also missed the team's previous training session. After undergoing the necessary medical tests, the club's doctors decided to leave him out of the squad for the match.

The game against Real Sociedad will kick off at 1:00am Bangladesh time on Monday.

Another setback after fan criticism

Alvarez was already going through a difficult period at Atletico. During the final stages of the transfer window, there was growing speculation that he could leave the Madrid club, with Barcelona reportedly among his preferred destinations.

However, Atletico refused to sell the Argentine forward. The situation became more difficult when Alvarez was booed by Atletico supporters during the home match against Villarreal.

Following that game, Alvarez missed three consecutive training sessions and was subsequently left out of the squad for Atletico's third-round La Liga match against Sevilla.

With his future at Atletico finally settled for the time being, Alvarez returned to action last week against Athletic Bilbao. He played 31 minutes as he looked to regain his rhythm and rebuild his relationship with the club's supporters.

Now, another injury has interrupted that process.

Alvarez faces another fight for his place

Alvarez had expressed his desire to leave Atletico during the June-July World Cup period, with Barcelona emerging as a potential destination. The Catalan club was also keen to sign him.

But Atletico were unwilling to sanction his departure, meaning the World Cup-winning striker will remain in Madrid for now.

His immediate priority is to recover from the muscle injury, return to full fitness and regain his best form. He will also be looking to re-establish himself as an important figure in Diego Simeone's Atletico side.

Atletico have seven points from their opening four league matches, with two wins and a draw, leaving them eighth in the La Liga table.

With the Madrid club still searching for greater consistency at the start of the season, Alvarez's latest injury represents another concern for the team.
