Manchester United Make Winning Champions League Return as Bayern Score Five and Como Make History

Manchester United 4–0 Sabah

Manchester United marked their return to the Champions League with an emphatic 4–0 victory over Azerbaijan club Sabah FK at Old Trafford.

After missing the competition for the previous two seasons, the Red Devils made an impressive comeback under Michael Carrick. Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes, Benjamin Sesko and Lisandro Martinez were on the scoresheet.

United have struggled for consistency in the Premier League, collecting only four points from their opening three matches against Hull City, Ipswich and Everton. But against Champions League newcomers Sabah, the difference in quality was clear from the beginning.

Cunha opened the scoring in the 27th minute, getting a touch from close range after a superb cross from young defender Patrick Dorgu.

United then scored twice within three minutes just before half-time. Captain Bruno Fernandes calmly converted from Youri Tielemans' pass before Benjamin Sesko made it 3–0 after receiving the ball from Bryan Mbeumo and going around the Sabah goalkeeper.

The fourth goal arrived shortly after the restart. Sabah goalkeeper Pokatilov made a mistake while attempting to clear a free-kick situation, allowing Lisandro Martinez to finish into an empty net.

The victory also gives Carrick's side a timely confidence boost ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby against Manchester City.

Bayern Munich 5–0 Bodo/Glimt

Bayern Munich also enjoyed a dominant night at home, beating Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt 5–0.

The visitors frustrated Bayern throughout the first half, but Vincent Kompany's side exploded into life after the break.

Jamal Musiala opened the scoring two minutes into the second half before Harry Kane doubled the lead in the 60th minute with a header. It was Kane's 34th Champions League goal in 39 appearances for Bayern.

Alphonso Davies then produced a spectacular half-volley to make it 3–0. Michael Olise completed the rout late in the match with two impressive goals as Bayern secured a convincing 5–0 victory.

Como Make History on Champions League Debut

Italian club Como celebrated a historic Champions League debut by defeating RB Leipzig 4–1 at home.

Cesc Fabregas' side faced a major challenge to host the match at Stadio Sinigaglia. Without the required renovation work, Como would have had to play around 200 kilometres away at Sassuolo's stadium.

But after being cleared to play at home, Como made full use of the advantage.

Martin Baturina opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Tasos Douvikas and Assane Diao added two more goals to put the hosts 3–0 ahead.

Andrija Maksimovic pulled one back for Leipzig, but Como restored their three-goal advantage in stoppage time when Maximo Perrone scored to complete a memorable 4–1 victory.

It was therefore a night of major European stories: Manchester United celebrated a dominant Champions League comeback, Bayern Munich produced a five-goal performance, and Como announced themselves on the biggest club stage with a historic debut victory.
