Mikel Arteta Believes Arsenal Can Reach Greater Heights Than Last Season

Arsenal’s perfect start to the Premier League season continued with a hard-fought comeback win over Chelsea. The Gunners conceded just 77 seconds into the match but fought back through goals from Kai Havertz and captain Martin Odegaard to secure a 2-1 victory.

The win also extended Arsenal’s unbeaten run against Chelsea to 10 consecutive matches.

Arsenal have now made a perfect start to their campaign, strengthening their confidence as they pursue the challenge of retaining the English top-flight title for the first time since the 1930s.

Manager Mikel Arteta believes his side can reach an even higher level than they did last season, although he knows the road ahead will be extremely demanding.

“We went to Villa Park a few days ago and that was a very difficult game. Today was the same again. Then we go to Sunderland on Saturday and it will be exactly the same, very difficult,” Arteta said.

“We know every week is going to be like this and we have to be prepared for it.”

Arteta was particularly encouraged by the way Arsenal responded after falling behind early against Chelsea. He believes the performance is a sign that his team can improve further this season.

“I think it’s an indication that we can play at a higher level than last season,” Arteta said. “But it depends on how we manage and maintain that ambition and humility, and how we try every day to find a better version of ourselves and the team.”

After Manchester City, Arsenal are the only team to have won their opening three Premier League matches, and they have now continued that perfect run into a fourth game.

With a long season still ahead, Arteta knows there is plenty of work to do. But Arsenal’s strong start and ability to fight back from difficult situations have given the Gunners renewed belief in their title ambitions.
