Towhid Hridoy surpasses Tamim as Bangladesh's highest run-scorer in first-class cricket

Tawhid Hridoy seems to be addicted to breaking records. He made history by becoming the first batsman to play for Bangladesh on foreign soil by scoring a triple century in Potchefstroom against South Africa 'A' team. This time, this batsman has also set a new record in the country's first-class cricket.

Until now, the highest individual innings by a Bangladesh batsman in first-class cricket was 334 runs. Tamim Iqbal had set this record for the Eastern Zone against the Central Zone in Mirpur in the 2019 Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL). Hridoy has now made that record his own on South African soil.

Bangladesh 'A' team declared their innings while remaining unbeaten on 350 runs. Hridoy scored a record-breaking run in a brilliant innings of 381 balls. Rezaur Rahman was unbeaten with him, scoring 31 runs off 110 balls.

After Saifuddin's departure the previous day, Bangladesh 'A' team's innings ended at 676 runs for 6 wickets. They started the last day's play today with four wickets in hand. Bangladesh lost two more wickets early on. Hridoy was on 225 when the eighth wicket fell.

Hridoy then put on an unbroken partnership with Rezaur to bring the team a huge total. In the end, Bangladesh 'A' declared their innings after scoring 676 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

South Africa 'A' will come out to bat in the second innings after trailing by 164 runs in the first innings. However, the chances of winning the match are quite difficult for Bangladesh. The bowlers do not have a whole session to bowl out the opponent.
