Nora Fatehi Breaks Silence on Controversial Song: ‘I Never Approved the Hindi Version

Nora Fatehi has opened up about the controversy surrounding the song ‘Sarke Chunri Teri Sarke’, claiming that she never approved or gave permission for its Hindi version.

Speaking on the ‘Dream With Dr. Sheen’ podcast, the actress and dancer said she was not surprised by the backlash surrounding the song. According to Nora, she had already anticipated that the song could attract criticism because of the way women were portrayed in some of its visuals.

Nora revealed that she had originally shot the Kannada version of the song around three years ago. The song was part of a major film and featured Sanjay Dutt, which was one of the reasons she agreed to the project.

Since she did not understand Kannada at the time, Nora said she relied on the filmmakers' explanation of the song and its concept. However, she claims that she was not consulted when the Hindi version was later dubbed and given new lyrics.

‘I don’t know where the Hindi version came from’

Nora said she had no prior knowledge of the Hindi dubbing, the new lyrics or the use of her images in the new version.

She also claimed that she was upset after seeing some promotional material at the song's launch event. According to her, some images featuring her and Sanjay Dutt appeared to have been created using artificial intelligence.

After raising her concerns with the filmmakers, Nora said she decided to distance herself from the project and did not participate in its promotion.

As criticism intensified on social media, she also released a video statement to clarify her position. Nora said she feared that remaining silent could lead people to believe that she supported the controversial version of the song.

Nora makes claims about social media influencers

Nora also alleged that some influencers were paid to intensify the controversy surrounding the song. She claimed that she knew who had allegedly hired them and how the campaign was organised.

She further claimed that some people used the controversy as an opportunity to personally target her. Nora also urged people not to share clips or parts of the song, arguing that doing so could give the controversial track unnecessary publicity.

‘Artists do not always have full control’

Nora also spoke about the limited control artists can sometimes have over their work in the entertainment industry.

She said that while many people in Bollywood respect her views, there are situations where artists have limited influence over how their work is ultimately presented.

Nora claimed that she had raised her concerns with the director after seeing the Hindi version. She subsequently stepped away from the project because she believed her image and reputation were involved.

Complaint over alleged obscenity

After being released on YouTube, the song attracted widespread discussion on social media. A complaint was subsequently filed against the song, alleging that some of its lyrics, visuals and dance sequences were obscene, sexually suggestive and inappropriate.

The complaint also raised concerns about the accessibility of the content to minors. A separate criminal complaint was reportedly filed with the cyber cell of Delhi Police.

The song was sung by Mangli, written by Rakib Alam and composed by Arjun Janya.

Song from ‘KD: The Devil’

‘Sarke Chunri Teri Sarke’ is featured in the Kannada action thriller ‘KD: The Devil’, directed by Prem and starring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty and Reshma Nanaiah.

Set in the 1970s, the film follows Kaali, a small-time criminal whose involvement in the underworld gradually grows.
