Bangladesh announces 15-member squad for Asian Games, captained by Liton
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member Bangladesh cricket team for the 20th Asian Games. Liton Das has been named captain in the team announced on Wednesday evening, while Towhid Hridoy has been given the vice-captaincy.
The team includes experienced cricketers like Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mostafizur Rahman and Hasan Mahmud. However, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Nurul Hasan and Abdul Ghaffar Saqlain have not been named.
A total of 10 teams will participate in this year's Asian Games. Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play directly in the knockout stage. On the other hand, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal and Oman will compete in the first round. Four teams will advance to the knockout stage from the first round, which is divided into two groups.
The Asian Games will be held in Japan in September-October. The boys' cricket event will be held at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin from September 24 to October 3.
Bangladesh squad: Liton Das (captain), Tanjid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Mohammad Saif Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy (vice-captain), Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Rishad Hossain, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Shariful Islam, Mostafizur Rahman and Hasan Mahmud.
