Anthropic has introduced a new AI agent, ‘Claude Duet’, to simplify tasks for professionals.

Anthropic has unveiled ‘Claude Duet,’ a new AI agent capable of proactively managing tasks by understanding user needs, rather than simply waiting for explicit instructions. This service is designed to assist with a wide range of professional activities—from summarizing daily tasks and scheduling meetings to generating financial forecasts and building web applications.

To intensify competition in the artificial intelligence (AI) market, Anthropic has introduced ‘Claude Duet,’ a new personal AI agent. Tailored for professionals and small business owners, this service monitors data across various applications connected to the user to identify key tasks. It then provides updates on progress and assists in managing various responsibilities.

According to a Reuters report published on October 21, Claude Duet has been launched as a research preview. It is accessible via the claude.ai website, as well as through dedicated apps for iPhone and Android. Initially, subscribers to Anthropic’s ‘Claude Pro’ and ‘Claude Team’ (Max) plans in the United States will be able to gain access via a waitlist.

An AI That Doesn’t Just Wait for Instructions

Traditional chatbots typically begin tasks only after receiving a specific question or command from a user. What sets Claude Duet apart is its ability to independently surface important matters.

Anthropic’s vision includes having the app generate a brief summary for the user at the start of each day, highlighting key information from emails, messages, and other connected applications. It can also alert the user throughout the day if new developments require their attention.

The AI agent can assist with tasks such as scheduling meetings, creating financial forecasts, building dashboards, and developing web applications. Ultimately, it aims to save time for professionals who frequently need to coordinate across multiple applications and workflows. ## Over 6,000 Integration Options

Anthropic has announced that Claude Duet can work with more than 6,000 connectors and plugins available on the Claude marketplace. These integrations include popular services such as Gmail and Slack.

The application is built on the Claude Opus 5.5 model. It can continue operating within its own virtual environment even when the user’s phone or computer is turned off. It provides notifications upon the completion of a task or when a user’s decision is required.

Furthermore, the service can assist with activities like online shopping by utilizing Stripe’s Link digital wallet and Shopify’s Shop Pay.

User Authorization Required for Sensitive Actions

While enabling the AI agent to perform tasks autonomously, Anthropic has also prioritized security. Claude Duet must obtain user authorization before taking any sensitive actions.

Such authorization is required for tasks like sending emails, making payments, signing documents, or deleting files. However, certain high-risk activities—such as securities trading or transferring funds between accounts—remain prohibited, even with user consent.

The new service does have some limitations. Anthropic acknowledges that Claude Duet may occasionally misinterpret the context of a conversation or fail to correctly prioritize tasks. It is also currently less proficient at handling personal tasks, such as booking tickets.

Competition in the AI Agent Market

There is growing competition among technology companies to develop autonomous AI agents capable of performing tasks across various applications on behalf of users. OpenAI has already launched its own "Dots" agent, while Meta’s "Muse" agent has also garnered attention in the market.

With the introduction of Claude Duet, Anthropic is moving beyond simply answering questions or writing code, shifting toward taking responsibility for a user’s daily professional tasks. However, the success of these services will largely depend on how reliably such AI agents can operate, how securely they can keep user data, and how efficiently they can handle complex, real-world tasks.
