Salman Agha Dropped, Sahibzada Farhan Named Pakistan’s New T20I Captain
Pakistan have appointed Sahibzada Farhan as their new T20I captain, replacing Salman Agha. Farhan, who led Pakistan to a silver medal at the Asian Games, has now been handed the responsibility of leading the national T20I side.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the squad for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Salman Agha has not only lost the captaincy but has also been dropped from the T20I squad.
Fast bowler Naseem Shah is set to return to international T20 cricket after the T20 World Cup, with the Sri Lanka series marking his comeback in the format.
All-rounder Rajaaullah, who impressed in the Edgbaston Test, has received his first call-up to the national team. He has also been included in the ODI squad.
Pakistan T20I squad:
Sahibzada Farhan (captain), Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Nawaz, Muhammad Imran Randhawa, Khawaja Nafi (wicketkeeper), Maz Sadaqat, Naseem Shah, Rajaaullah, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem.
The three T20Is against Sri Lanka will be played in Rawalpindi on October 9, 11 and 13.
Shaheen to Lead Pakistan in ODIs
After the T20I series, Pakistan will take part in a seven-match ODI tri-series featuring Sri Lanka and England. Pakistan will be led by Shaheen Shah Afridi in the tournament.
Salman Agha remains part of the ODI squad despite being dropped from the T20I side. The squad also includes established names such as Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.

Shaheen Shah Afridi (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Salman Agha, Arafat Minhas, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Ghazi Ghori, Haris Rauf, Hasan Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Rajaaullah, Saad Baig, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem.
Farhan’s appointment marks a new chapter in Pakistan’s T20I leadership, while Shaheen will continue to lead the side in ODIs.
