A special request from Shah Rukh Khan played a key role in bringing Ed Sheeran on board for ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’. The British singer recently shared the story behind the song in a social media video, revealing how the collaboration came together during his last visit to India.

The video features Ed recording the Hindi portion of ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’ in a studio, alongside scenes featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone from the upcoming film ‘King’. Sharing the clip, Sheeran also recalled how he first connected with the Bollywood superstar and developed a friendship with him.

Ed revealed that he had visited Shah Rukh’s home during his previous trip to India. At the time, he was hoping to persuade the actor to make a special appearance in the music video for ‘Sapphire’, his song with Arijit Singh.

It was during that visit that Sheeran met music composer duo Sachin–Jigar. Later that same night, he wrote and recorded his portion of ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, a song from Shah Rukh’s upcoming film ‘King’.

Recalling the experience, Ed said he had visited Shah Rukh’s house during his last trip to India and wanted him to appear in a small but special part of the ‘Sapphire’ music video. He added that he met Sachin–Jigar that day and recorded his part for ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’ that very night.

Sheeran also expressed his excitement about collaborating with Arijit once again. He said he was delighted that the Indian singer had joined him on the track, adding that it was special to bring together so many people he cares about in one project.

The two artists previously collaborated on ‘Sapphire’, which received a strong response from listeners. Sheeran also visited Jiaganj in India at Arijit’s invitation. Their latest collaboration for ‘King’ has now generated fresh excitement among music fans.

‘Tu Mil Jaaye’ also features vocals by Madhubanti Bagchi, alongside Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh. The song has been drawing attention on social media since its release.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘King’ is scheduled for a worldwide release on December 24. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, with Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan and Raghav Juyal among the supporting cast.
