Female sports personnel face harassment from irate spectators at WNBA Finals
At the first game of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Finals, held at Chase Center in San Francisco, women’s sports advocates were subjected to intense verbal abuse and harassment by die-hard supporters of the Golden State Valkyries.
Jennifer Sey, founder and CEO of ‘XX-XY Athletics,’ along with several colleagues, attended the match wearing T-shirts emblazoned with the text ‘XX-XY.’ This prompted an aggressive confrontation from opposing fans.
During the game, some Valkyries supporters pointed at them, hurled insults, and complained to security personnel. As they were being escorted out of the arena and up the stairs, the agitated crowd subjected them to vile profanities, death threats, and various derogatory slogans. There was even an attempt to snatch a phone from one of them.

These women faced extreme intolerance and hostility simply for wearing T-shirts that affirm biological reality. Although the WNBA and the teams involved claim to foster an environment that is “open and inclusive for everyone,” they are now facing sharp criticism for failing to protect individuals—including sports advocates—who hold dissenting views.
