Mehidy Hasan Miraz produced another outstanding spell to wrap up Australia’s second innings in the Darwin Test. The off-spinner claimed five wickets as the hosts were bowled out for 284, leaving Bangladesh with a target of just 57 runs to make history.
Nathan Lyon became Miraz’s fifth and final victim. Attempting a sweep, Lyon missed the line of the delivery and was given out LBW by the umpire. He reviewed the decision, but the replay showed that the ball would have struck the middle stump, leaving him with no escape.
Lyon made 15 runs from 27 balls, while Josh Hazlewood remained unbeaten on 0 at the other end.
Miraz was Bangladesh’s standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 5 for 66. Hasan Mahmud also played a key role, taking 3 wickets for 56 runs.
With Australia dismissed for 284, Bangladesh now need just 57 runs to secure a historic victory in Darwin. The finish line is firmly in sight.
