Ravi Bishnoi Rises to No. 1 in ICC T20I Bowling Rankings
India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has climbed to the top of the ICC T20I bowling rankings after a series of impressive performances on the international stage.
Bishnoi has continued to make rapid progress since making his international debut. His consistent performances have not only contributed to India's success but have also helped him make a significant rise in the ICC rankings.
His latest breakthrough came after the recently concluded T20I series against Australia, where India secured a convincing 4-1 series victory. Bishnoi played a key role throughout the series and was named Player of the Series for his outstanding bowling performances.
Since making his T20I debut in February last year, Bishnoi has played 21 matches and taken 34 wickets. His consistency with the ball has established him as one of India's most effective options in the shortest format.
Bishnoi's Rise Is Nothing New
Bishnoi's rapid rise is hardly a surprise given his performances at the junior level.
At the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa, he finished as India's leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets. His performances at the tournament highlighted his ability to trouble batters with his variations and control.
At a time when experienced Indian spinners such as Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin were handling India's spin-bowling responsibilities, Bishnoi continued to impress whenever he received an opportunity.
His economy rate of 7.14 has also been one of the standout aspects of his T20I bowling record, underlining his ability to control the scoring rate while regularly creating wicket-taking opportunities.
Bishnoi Moves Ahead of Rashid Khan
According to the updated ICC T20I bowling rankings, Bishnoi currently sits at the top with 699 rating points.
Afghanistan's Rashid Khan is second with 692 points, while Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga and England's Adil Rashid share third place with 679 points each.
Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana occupies fifth place with 677 points.
Several established bowlers have dropped one place following Bishnoi's rise to the summit.
ICC T20I Bowling Rankings – Top 10
Ravi Bishnoi (India) – 699 points
Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) – 692 points
Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka) – 679 points
Adil Rashid (England) – 679 points

Sam Curran (England) – 659 points
Fazalhaq Farooqi (Afghanistan) – 657 points
Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Afghanistan) – 656 points
Akeal Hosein (West Indies) – 655 points
Anrich Nortje (South Africa) – 647 points
Bishnoi's rise to No. 1 reflects his growing importance to India's T20I setup. With his ability to bowl economically and pick up wickets consistently, the leg-spinner has quickly emerged as one of the leading spin options in international T20 cricket.
