Omar Sani remains captivated by Moushumi's love even after three decades.
The love story of popular Dhallywood couple Moushumi and Omar Sani has remained a focal point of audience interest for over three decades. They quietly tied the knot on March 4, 1995, and held their wedding reception a year and a half later, on August 2. Thirty-one years have passed since then; leaving behind the ups and downs of family life, raising children, and various rumors of estrangement, the celebrity couple remains together.
Recently, while discussing their long-standing marriage, Omar Sani revealed what makes him love Moushumi so much. When asked what still attracts him most to his wife, he mentioned that he is deeply drawn to her caring nature and her stubbornness.
In Sani's words, "Moushumi’s caring nature and her stubbornness really draw me in. She has the ability to keep things to herself—to hold onto a thought—whereas I can't. I have less patience, while she has more."
However, to Omar Sani, Moushumi’s most significant identity is that of the mother of their two children. He highlighted the care and concern she shows for their children.
Sani said, "There was a time when it was just my parents, myself, and now our two children, Fardin and Faiza. Her thoughts revolve entirely around the children. I come after that."
The actor also shared an amusing anecdote about their family life. He said, "It often happens that when we sit down to eat, a specific piece of meat is meant for Fardin, another for Faiza—and that’s fine. I often end up gnawing on the bones. I actually enjoy that."
Rumors of their separation have occasionally surfaced over their three-decade-long marriage. When asked about Moushumi's reaction to these rumors, Omar Sani explained that they are human, so making mistakes is natural. However, when there is excessive media coverage regarding these issues, Moushumi often makes lighthearted comments about it.
Sani said, "I am human, so I can certainly make mistakes. Moushumi is the same; she can make mistakes too. We are all human, after all. The problem arises when these things are written about excessively."
He also shared a comment Moushumi once made in this context: "Perhaps they make a living by saying or writing these things." "Perhaps they manage to buy rice and lentils with whatever little money they earn."
Beyond all the public discourse and criticism, Omar Sani has also clearly expressed his own feelings. He says, "Even at this stage of life, I would say—Fardin and Faiza’s mom—I love you."
Sani considers trust and sacrifice to be among the most crucial elements in sustaining a marital relationship. In his view, it is essential for a husband and wife to trust each other and possess a willingness to make sacrifices when necessary.
He remarks, "The essence of a husband-wife relationship lies in mutual trust and sacrifice. We have that between us."
Sani also highlights another quality of Moushumi. If she notices a mistake in one of his decisions, she might scold him, yet she stands by his side the very next moment. He views this dynamic as a natural and comforting aspect of their relationship.
Sani says, "Moushumi sometimes scolds me for my foolishness. She’ll say, 'You’re incurring losses here and there—don't we need to secure our future?' But then, she’s the one who asks, 'What do you need? How do you want to go about it? What do you plan to do?' All things considered, Moushumi is a very comforting presence."
However, the love story of Sani and Moushumi did not begin quite so easily. They first met at the *mahurat* (inaugural ceremony) of the film *Keyamat Theke Keyamat*. Later, director Sheikh Nazrul Islam took Omar Sani along to Moushumi’s home in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, to propose a film project. That was where they had their first conversation. However, due to prior commitments with other films, Moushumi could not accept the offer. Omar Sani returned home that day feeling disheartened.
After the release of *Keyamat Theke Keyamat* in 1993, they were paired together for the first time in the film *Dola*, thanks to the initiative of several producers. During the shoot in Sylhet, there was even a misunderstanding between them. Yet, over time, that distance eventually blossomed into affection.
Omar Sani was gradually captivated by Moushumi’s personality, as well as the warmth and conduct of her family. As their relationship deepened, they quietly married on March 4, 1995, in the presence of close family members and two intimate friends who were film directors.
Their wedding reception was held on August 2, a year and a half after the marriage. Over time, their relationship has spanned more than three decades. Amidst various discussions, moments of hurt feelings, and rumors, this popular Dhallywood couple has continued their journey together.
