Cristiano Ronaldo could make a surprise return for Al Nassr in their opening Saudi Pro League fixture of the new season. New head coach Ange Postecoglou has indicated that the Portuguese superstar is always ready to play.

Al Nassr will begin their title campaign at home against Al Fateh on Saturday. The match will also mark Postecoglou's first game in charge since taking over as the club's head coach last month.

Asked on Friday whether Ronaldo could feature in the opening fixture, Postecoglou gave a straightforward response: “Ronaldo is always ready.”

Ronaldo has returned to training as he prepares for his 25th professional season. The 41-year-old forward was seen sporting a new haircut after reporting back to the club. He is also continuing his pursuit of the remarkable milestone of 1,000 career goals. Ronaldo has scored 976 goals in 1,326 appearances for club and country.

The Portuguese icon remained prolific last season, scoring 28 goals in the Saudi Pro League and finishing the campaign as the league's third-highest scorer.

Ronaldo recently entered a new chapter in his personal life after marrying Georgina Rodríguez in Portugal on Tuesday, following their 10-year relationship. Remarkably, just one day later, the 41-year-old forward returned to Al Nassr training on Thursday.

In a video released by the club, Postecoglou welcomed Ronaldo back, saying: “Welcome and congratulations, Cris. Blessings to you and your family, my friend.”
