Bangladesh women's team announced for Asia Cup and Asian Games

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad ahead of the ACC Women's Asia Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates and the 20th Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

The BCB announced the final squads for the two tournaments in a statement on Monday. The Bangladesh women's team will be led by experienced wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana Jyoti in both the tournaments. Left-arm spinner Nahida Akhter has been given the responsibility as her deputy.

Considering the conditions of the United Arab Emirates and the potential spin-friendly wickets, special emphasis has been given to the spin attack in the Bangladesh squad. Along with Nahida, Rabeya Khan, Fahima Khatun, Sultana Khatun and Sanjida Akhter Meghla are in the team as specialist spinners.

In the batting department, captain Jyoti is joined by Dilara Akhter, Juairia Ferdous, Sharmin Akhter Supta, Sharmin Sultana and Sobhana Mostari. Experienced all-rounder Ritu Moni and young Swarna Akhter are also in the squad.

Bangladesh's hope in the pace attack is Marufa Akhter and Fariha Islam Trishna. These two pacers will be seen challenging the opponent's batters with speed and swing.

The Women's Asia Cup will start on August 28. The curtain will fall on September 13. After completing the Asia Cup mission, the Bangladesh women's team will leave for Japan to participate in the 20th Asian Games.
