BCB Takes New Initiative with Level-1 Curator Course

BCB to Launch First-Ever Level-1 Curator Course to Improve Pitch and Ground Management

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to introduce its first-ever Level-1 Curator Course as part of a major initiative to modernize and professionalize pitch, outfield, and turf management across the country’s cricket venues. The program will be conducted under the supervision of the board’s Grounds Committee.

The training will be led by Tony Hemmings, BCB’s Head of Turf Management and an ICC-accredited experienced curator. The course is designed to enhance the overall standard of cricket venues nationwide while also improving the technical and professional skills of ground staff through two separate workshops.

The first workshop will take place on 11 and 12 August at the Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram. Around 30 ground staff members from Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Purbachal, BKSP, and Fatullah are expected to participate.

The second workshop is scheduled for 23 and 24 August at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Approximately 40 representatives from Mirpur, BKSP, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal, Bogura, and Rajshahi will attend.

Training sessions at both venues will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

According to BCB sources, the primary objective of the course is to develop cricket venues that are high-quality, modern, and capable of meeting the demands of both domestic and international cricket. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a special certification from the BCB.

The initiative is being viewed as an important step in strengthening Bangladesh’s cricket infrastructure and is expected to contribute significantly to the future development of pitch preparation and ground maintenance standards across the country.
