Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) will go beyond crime, action and an expansive virtual world to explore the struggles, aspirations and everyday lives of ordinary people in modern America.

According to Rockstar Games, the game will examine how the meaning of the so-called “American Dream” has changed over time.

The American Dream was once commonly associated with becoming wealthy and achieving financial success. But for many people today, owning a home or simply paying off their debts can represent a major life goal. GTA 6 aims to reflect how difficult even these basic aspirations can be in the modern era.

Robert Humphries, head of narrative at Rockstar Games, discussed the game’s story and characters in an interview with British magazine Love.

The game’s two central characters, Jason and Lucia, are not experienced or famous criminals. Instead, they are newcomers to the criminal world who turn to crime as they struggle to survive.

Their future, however, will not simply follow a fixed path. The decisions made by players throughout the game will influence what happens to Jason and Lucia and how their story develops.

Rockstar has also placed significant emphasis on the game’s supporting characters and ordinary pedestrians. The characters were developed after research into the lifestyles and culture of people in Florida, helping create a more authentic virtual world.

Many of these characters will have their own stories and personalities, adding greater depth to the environment surrounding the two protagonists.

With GTA 6, Rockstar appears to be using the crime-driven world of Grand Theft Auto to explore more than just action and entertainment. The game will also examine modern aspirations, everyday struggles and how the American Dream has evolved over time.
