West Indies defeated India by 24 runs in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad to level the five-match series at 2-2. Shai Hope led the Caribbean side with an unbeaten century as West Indies posted 247 for 3 in 20 overs before India were bowled out for 223 in 19.3 overs.
Hope smashed an unbeaten 102 from just 50 balls, while Keemo Paul produced a match-winning spell of 5 for 41 to derail India's chase.
Hope Leads West Indies to 247
After being asked to bat first, West Indies made a positive start. Jewel Andrew scored 21 before departing in the fifth over, but Hope continued to accelerate.
Shimron Hetmyer then produced a blistering 33 from only 12 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Rovman Powell added 24 from 17 deliveries.
Hope took control of the innings alongside Sherfane Rutherford. The pair added an unbeaten 91 runs from just 43 balls to give West Indies a huge finish.
Hope reached his fifty from 28 balls and then exploded at the end. He hit sixes from the final two deliveries of the innings to complete his century. His unbeaten 102 included four fours and nine sixes.
Rutherford remained unbeaten on 49 from 26 balls.
The century also gave Hope a historic milestone, making him the first West Indies batter to score three T20 centuries. Two of those hundreds have come during the current series.
Samson Gives India a Flying Start
India needed 248 to win and Sanju Samson immediately attacked the West Indies bowling attack.
Samson reached his fifty from only 18 balls, hitting five fours and four sixes. But his spectacular innings was cut short when Keemo Paul came into the attack.
Paul dismissed Samson with his first delivery of the over after the wicketkeeper-batter had scored 56 from 23 balls. Ishan Kishan also fell in the same over after hitting a six.
India were 67 for 2 after 4.4 overs, but their chase soon lost momentum.
Captain Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for 16, while Abhishek Sharma struggled to find his rhythm and eventually departed for 29 from 24 balls.
Gudakesh Motie then dismissed Naman Dhir with the next delivery, creating a hat-trick opportunity. Nitish Kumar Reddy denied him the hat-trick and later joined Tilak Varma to keep India's hopes alive.
Paul Finishes with Five Wickets
Tilak and Nitish put together a 70-run partnership that briefly brought India back into the contest.
However, with India needing 48 runs from the final 19 balls, Romario Shepherd dismissed Tilak for 43 from 25 deliveries.
Keemo Paul then returned to finish the job. Nitish hit him for a six from the first ball of the 19th over, but Paul responded immediately by dismissing him for 41 from 20 balls.
He then removed Prince Yadav and Axar Patel in the same over to complete a five-wicket haul.
India needed 35 runs from the final over with only one wicket remaining. Arshdeep Singh was unable to continue because of a shoulder problem, bringing the chase to an end.
India finished on 223 in 19.3 overs, handing West Indies a 24-run victory and bringing the five-match series level at 2-2.
The fifth and deciding T20I will be played in Bengaluru on Saturday.
