Yamal makes history at 19 years old with double goal in Barca's win

Barcelona did not have a comfortable start at Camp Nou. Rayo Vallecano took the lead after just 12 minutes through Sergio Camilo. However, the Catalans quickly took control of the match. In the end, Barcelona won 5-2 with a brace from Lamine Yamal and Rafinha.

After falling behind, Rafinha scored in the 19th minute to equalize Barca. Yamal scored just two minutes later, in the 21st minute. This was the young Barca winger's first goal this season. At the same time, with this goal, he reached the milestone of 50 goals in official club competitions at the youngest age in the history of professional football in Spain.

Yamal and Rafinha's dominance did not stop after the break. Both scored another goal in the second half. In the meantime, an own goal by Rayo defender Florian Lejeune increased Barca's gap even further. Camelo scored his second goal late in the match, but it only reduced the deficit.

Rayo Vallecano suffered another defeat after three consecutive matches without a win. Hansi Flick's team, on the other hand, scored a total of 12 goals in three matches on their way to winning their third consecutive victory and moving to the top of the points table.

Yamal on the record books

Yamal has surpassed Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez by scoring his 50th goal at the age of just 19 years and 49 days. Raul reached the 50-goal milestone at the age of 19 years and 249 days. Former Atletico Madrid star Fernando Torres took 20 years and 221 days to achieve this.

The record for Barcelona was previously held by the late former forward Josef Escola. He scored his 50th goal in the Catalan regional championship on October 20, 1935, at the age of 20 years and 356 days.

Lionel Messi scored his 50th goal for Barcelona at the age of 21 years and 120 days. The Argentine legend reached that milestone against Basel in the Champions League.

Yamal's feat is particularly notable in all competitions in Europe's top five leagues. Previously, Kylian Mbappe reached the 50-goal milestone at the age of 19 years and 241 days and Erling Haaland at the age of 20 years and 196 days. Yamal surpassed both of them in terms of age.

Yamal has scored 51 goals in 154 matches for Barcelona so far. Of these, he was in the starting eleven in 126 matches. He has also provided 45 more goals through teammates. That is, he has directly contributed to a total of 96 goals. The 19-year-old star has contributed to one goal every 119 minutes on average.
