Dinesh Chandimal is not doing well at all. After being dismissed for just 4 runs in the first innings against India in the Galle Test, the experienced Sri Lankan batsman had to leave the field after getting injured.

In the fourth over of India's second innings in the morning session of the fourth day of the Test, Chandimal ran from deep midwicket to deep square leg to stop a shot by Lokesh Rahul. He quickly moved forward and dived to stop the ball, but when he hit the ground, his upper body was pressed. Then he fell over like a kind of dig.

Immediately after getting injured, Chandimal fell to the ground near the boundary. His teammates, physio and team doctor quickly rushed to the batsman who was writhing in pain. He was given first aid on the field.

However, considering his physical condition, Chandimal could not continue fielding. With the help of his teammates, he slowly walked towards the dressing room. Pasindu Suryabandara came on as a replacement fielder in his place.

Later, Chandimal was taken to a local hospital as the injury was deemed more serious. As a precautionary measure, his neck and shoulder will be scanned there. If the tests reveal a major injury, Sri Lanka will have the opportunity to field a concussion replacement for the rest of the match. Suryabandara is an additional top-order batsman in the squad.

Earlier, in the Galle Test, India was all out for 462 runs in the first innings. In reply, Sri Lanka's innings was restricted to 284 runs. Before the lunch break on the fourth day, India was 116 runs for 4 wickets in its second innings. As a result, India's lead over the hosts increased to 294 runs.
