Lionel Messi is set to take the field for the national team one last time at the historic Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Tickets for the superstar's farewell match sold out within just two hours of their release. Through this friendly match against Benin, the legendary footballer will bid farewell to fans on home soil.

According to a report by TNT Sports, all 85,018 allocated tickets were snapped up almost instantly after sales began on Thursday (local time). Argentina is scheduled to play against Benin on October 6.

For this final match, Messi will wear a special commemorative jersey featuring gold accents, displaying his name and the iconic number '10'. Unveiling the jersey on social media, Messi wrote, "One last match. A jersey for a lifetime."

Messi has achieved immense success during his two-decade-long career with Argentina. His trophy cabinet includes the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2021 and 2024 Copa América titles, the 2022 Finalissima, and the 2008 Olympic gold medal. Representing his country, he has scored 125 goals and provided 68 assists in 207 matches.
