Bangladesh Emerging made a poor start to the tri-nation series, losing by seven wickets to South Africa Emerging in Pretoria. After being asked to bat first, the visitors struggled badly against the home side’s fast bowlers and were bowled out for just 89 in 30.2 overs.

Mahfizul Islam was the only batter to put up a fight, scoring 40 runs, while Aminul Islam Biplob made 11 and Samiun Bashir added 10. South African pacer Dayyan Galiem was the standout performer, taking 5 wickets for 18 runs.

In reply, South Africa were briefly under pressure after losing three wickets for 37. Iqbal Hossain Emon and Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan shared the early breakthroughs, with Rizwan finishing with two wickets.

However, Richard Seletswane (35) and Mitchell van Buuren (18) combined in an unbeaten 53-run stand to guide the hosts to victory.

Bangladesh Emerging will play their next match against University Sport South Africa on August 3. The top two teams in the double round-robin tournament will advance to the final on August 12 in Pretoria.
