Ella Langley Breaks Mariah Carey’s Billboard Hot 100 Record

Ella Langley has made music history by spending 23 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her hit song “Choosin’ Texas.” The run has taken her past Mariah Carey’s long-standing record.

Carey’s 1994 holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” had previously spent 22 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Langley matched that mark last week before moving ahead with another week at No. 1.

48 Weeks on the Billboard Hot 100

“Choosin’ Texas” has now spent 48 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, with almost half of those weeks coming at the top of the chart.

The song’s official streams fell 9% this week to around 21.8 million, but its radio audience continued to grow. Radio airplay reached approximately 58.3 million listeners, up 2% from the previous week.

The track also remains No. 1 on both Billboard’s Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts.

Country Music Dominates the Top Three

Country music has taken over the top three positions on this week’s Billboard Hot 100.

Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” sits at No. 1, followed by Stella Lefty’s “Boston” at No. 2 and Morgan Wallen’s “Been By Now” at No. 3.

Lefty has also reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart for the first time with “Boston.”

Langley Also Finding Success With Her Album

Langley’s success extends beyond her record-breaking single. Her album “Dandelion” has also performed strongly on the Billboard 200.

The album returned to No. 1 last week but dropped to No. 2 this week following the release of Jhené Aiko’s “Westside Womni”.

Langley also has another song inside the Billboard Hot 100 top 10, with “Be Her” currently sitting at No. 10.

Awards Season Could Bring More Recognition

Langley’s chart success comes just ahead of a major awards season. Grammy nominations are scheduled to be announced on November 16, with Langley expected to be among the artists receiving multiple nominations.

Two days later, the Country Music Association Awards will take place. Langley leads this year’s CMA nominations with nine nominations.

Could Mariah Carey Take the Record Back?

Langley’s record could face a serious challenge later in the year. Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” traditionally surges during the holiday season and has regularly returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

If Carey’s Christmas classic climbs back to No. 1, she could begin closing the gap. But if “Choosin’ Texas” remains at the top for several more weeks before the holiday surge, Langley could extend her advantage further.
