Real Madrid Remain World's Most Valuable Football Club, Arsenal Break Into Top Three
Real Madrid’s dominance in global football extends well beyond the pitch. The Spanish giants have once again been named the world’s most valuable football club in the latest Brand Finance Football 50 ranking, while Arsenal emerged as the biggest surprise by breaking into the top three for the first time.
According to the report, the combined brand value of the world’s top 50 football clubs has reached a record €23.9 billion, while their total enterprise value has climbed to around €79.7 billion. It represents the strongest one-year growth recorded in sports branding history.
Brand value reflects the commercial worth of a club’s name and identity—the potential revenue that can be generated from the brand in the future. Enterprise value, meanwhile, represents the estimated overall financial value of a club.
Real Madrid Stay on Top
Real Madrid lead the ranking with a brand value of $2.766 billion.
Despite some inconsistent results on the pitch, the redevelopment of the Santiago Bernabéu has played a major role in strengthening the club’s commercial position.
The stadium’s first full-capacity season following its renovation generated huge revenues from matchday tickets, hospitality, museum visits and stadium tours. Real Madrid’s total revenue reached a record €1.2 billion.
The club’s enormous global fanbase, international sponsorship deals and the star power of players such as Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior have further strengthened its commercial appeal.
Brand Finance estimates that the top 10 clubs now account for more than 60 percent of the total football brand value, highlighting the growing concentration of commercial power among the elite.
Barcelona Close the Gap
Barcelona remain second in the ranking after increasing their brand value by 15 percent to $2.276 billion.
Success under Hansi Flick, including La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, has contributed to the club’s commercial recovery. The return to Camp Nou has also helped Barcelona recover much of the matchday revenue lost during the stadium’s absence.
Record sponsorship income and strong e-commerce sales have pushed Barcelona closer to the €1 billion revenue mark, narrowing the commercial gap with Real Madrid.
Arsenal’s Historic Rise
The biggest surprise in the ranking is Arsenal. The Gunners climbed five places to reach the top three for the first time, with their brand value rising to $1.772 billion.
Winning the Premier League after a 22-year wait and reaching the Champions League final have transformed Arsenal’s commercial profile. Their improved sporting performance has been matched by significant growth in brand value and revenue.
Bayern Munich moved up two places to fourth with a brand value of $1.748 billion. Strong broadcasting, commercial and matchday revenues, combined with domestic success, have strengthened the German champions’ position.
Paris Saint-Germain remain fifth at $1.734 billion. Although the French club won multiple trophies, the relatively limited global appeal of Ligue 1 continues to restrict its brand growth compared with Europe’s biggest leagues.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United all slipped down the ranking despite maintaining or increasing their brand values. City dropped from third to sixth, Liverpool from fourth to seventh, while Manchester United moved from seventh to eighth.
Chelsea remain ninth, while Borussia Dortmund returned to the top 10 after a decade away. Strong broadcasting, ticketing and merchandising revenues helped the German club regain its place among Europe’s commercial elite.
