Ancelotti Returns to Real Madrid, Backs Mourinho to Succeed

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti is currently enjoying a break from international football, with no immediate matches on the schedule. During his time away from Brazil duty, the Italian has been travelling around Europe and recently returned to his former club, Real Madrid, for the first time in around a year and a half.

Ancelotti visited Real Madrid’s training complex at Valdebebas, where he reunited with several of his former players. He also used the opportunity to check on the latest fitness and injury updates of Brazil internationals at the club.

The Brazil coach specifically enquired about Vinicius Junior, Endrick, Rodrygo and Eder Militao. Endrick, Rodrygo and Militao have returned from injury and have been training separately as they continue their recovery and build up their fitness ahead of Brazil’s upcoming fixtures.

Ancelotti also held a lengthy discussion with Real Madrid’s new head coach Jose Mourinho. The Italian welcomed Mourinho’s return to the Spanish giants after 13 years and spoke positively about their long-standing relationship.

“Our relationship has been very good for a long time. We exchange ideas and send messages to each other,” Ancelotti said.

The former Real Madrid boss also backed Mourinho to enjoy a successful spell at the club.

“I am sure he will do very well. Jose is a great coach and I am certain he will do a very good job here,” Ancelotti added.

Ancelotti also spoke emotionally about his connection with Real Madrid, describing the club as much more than just a former workplace.

“Real Madrid is my home, my family, everything. I had a wonderful time here and have so many great memories,” he said.

Real Madrid have made a strong start to the new La Liga campaign, winning each of their opening three matches. Ancelotti believes the club can enjoy another successful season.

“There are more important moments coming. I think Real Madrid will have a great season,” he said.

With Real Madrid facing a busy schedule before the Champions League gets underway, Ancelotti’s return to Valdebebas brought together emotion, old friendships and professional football matters—all in one visit.
