Brazilian forward Richarlison has been dropped from Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League squad. The 29-year-old forward is no longer in coach Roberto de Zarbi's plans - the club has made this clear to him.
Zarbi made his plans for Richarlison clear before the end of the Premier League transfer window. Tottenham are now trying to sell or loan him to another club. As there is still a transfer window in several European leagues, he has the opportunity to find a new address.
Turkish side Trabzonspor has been the most discussed as a possible destination for Richarlison. The Brazilian forward has reached an agreement with the club on personal terms. However, Tottenham has not yet received an officially acceptable offer from Trabzonspor.
Although Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan held talks in London, Tottenham rejected his informal offer of about 20 million pounds. The Turkish club are also eyeing West Ham forward Pablo as an alternative.
Tottenham's new attack equation is also a big reason behind Richarlison's exclusion from the squad. The club have signed Omar Marmoush on loan from Manchester City. The club also has an obligation to buy him permanently for £60m next summer. In addition, England striker Dominic Solanke is also in the fight to keep his place in the starting eleven.
Uncertainty about Richarlison's future is not new. He was in the starting eleven for Tottenham's first match of the season against Brentford. However, his place has become more uncertain after Marmoush's arrival and Solanke's full fitness.
Speaking about Richarlison during the pre-season tour last July, Zarbi said that the Brazilian forward sometimes said he wanted to stay at the club, and sometimes he wanted to leave. Tottenham also put him on the list of players who could be sold after the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
Tottenham had previously wanted to use Richarlison in a swap deal to get Everton's Illiman Ndiaye. The Brazilian forward was valued at around £35 million. However, those talks ultimately fell through. Richarlison then indicated on social media that no one else could determine his future.
Richarlison has scored 32 goals in 134 games for the club since joining Tottenham from Everton for around £50 million in 2022. His time there has not been as expected due to injuries. He has never been able to become a regular first-choice striker at Tottenham.
Now, with opportunities for him in the transfer markets of Turkey, Portugal or Saudi Arabia, it remains to be seen whether Richarlison will ultimately leave England.
