Sweden Make Dream Start at Home as Isabelle Haak Fires 30 Points

Sweden made a brilliant start to the CEV EuroVolley Women 2026, defeating Montenegro in straight sets in front of their home crowd in Gothenburg.

Playing at the Scandinavium, Sweden secured a convincing 3-0 victory, winning the three sets 25-23, 25-18 and 25-18. The hosts were led by star opposite Isabelle Haak, who produced another outstanding individual performance.

Haak Shines with 30 Points

Haak was the standout player of the match, finishing with an impressive 30 points. She scored 27 points through attacks and added another from the service line, finishing as the match's leading scorer.

Montenegro pushed Sweden hard during the opening set, with both teams staying close throughout. Sweden eventually handled the pressure better in the closing stages and claimed the first set 25-23.

After taking the opening set, Sweden gradually took control of the match. They dominated the second set and won it 25-18 before producing another strong display in the third set to complete the straight-sets victory.

Sweden Impress in Front of Home Crowd

The victory was particularly special for Sweden as they opened their European Championship campaign on home soil. A crowd of 5,261 spectators attended the match in Gothenburg, creating an electric atmosphere inside the Scandinavium.

Haak was once again the main attacking force, while Hanna Hellvig also made an important contribution as Sweden maintained pressure on Montenegro throughout the match.

The opening victory gives Sweden valuable momentum for the rest of EuroVolley 2026. If Haak can continue producing performances at this level, the Swedish side could become a serious threat as the tournament progresses.

A 3-0 victory on home soil, combined with Haak's outstanding 30-point performance, has given Sweden the perfect start to their EuroVolley 2026 campaign.
