Musiala Collapses Twice in Four Days: What’s Behind the Alarming Incidents?
Fresh concerns have emerged over Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala after the 23-year-old midfielder collapsed during two friendly matches within just four days.
Last Tuesday, Musiala came on as a substitute in the 61st minute against German second-tier side Heidenheim. Just six minutes later, he suddenly went down on the pitch. His teammates immediately rushed to help, and after receiving initial treatment, Musiala walked off the field himself.
It was not the first such incident. Just four days earlier, he had also collapsed around 15 minutes after coming on as a substitute against RB Leipzig.
Bayern were already aware of the issue. The club’s managing director Max Eberl said Musiala had been given the space to explain the situation publicly himself. The German star later addressed his condition in an Instagram post.
Musiala revealed that he had been diagnosed with temporary “absence” episodes linked to a neurological condition. While the incidents may look alarming, he said the condition is manageable and that he is receiving the best possible medical care.
He also confirmed that he is regularly consulting specialists and plans to continue playing football with clearance from neurologists. Most importantly, Musiala stressed that there are no other health risks beyond the condition.
The past 18 months have already been challenging for the Bayern star. He has dealt with several injuries, including a broken foot at last summer’s Club World Cup that required months of recovery. After returning, he continued to experience recurring ankle problems.
Musiala also endured a difficult World Cup, with Germany eliminated by Paraguay in the Round of 32.
More recently, a metal plate/screw was removed from his left foot, forcing him to miss Bayern’s pre-season preparations and Asian tour. Instead, he shortened his post-World Cup break and worked on his fitness individually.
As one of Bayern’s highest-paid players alongside Harry Kane, Musiala remains a key figure for the club. The major question now is whether his latest health issue will affect his preparation and availability for the new season. For now, however, the German star remains positive and is continuing his recovery under specialist supervision.
