Portugal Name Nations League Squad With Cristiano Ronaldo Included

Portugal have named their squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches with Cristiano Ronaldo once again included in the team. At 41, the legendary forward remains an important part of the national side as he continues what could be the final chapter of his international career.

Ronaldo, the all-time leading scorer in international football with 146 goals, has already suggested that this could be his final year in football. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has made it clear that he wants to leave a lasting mark before eventually bringing his remarkable career to an end.

“Maybe this is my final year in football. I want to leave a great mark,” Ronaldo has said.

Jorge Jesus Keeps Faith in Ronaldo

Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has continued to place his trust in Ronaldo. The veteran forward has been included in the latest Nations League squad despite his age, underlining his continued importance to the national team.

Questions over Ronaldo’s international future intensified after Portugal’s World Cup campaign ended in the last 16. However, the forward remains part of the squad and is set to continue representing his country under Jesus.

Jesus has made four changes from the World Cup squad. Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo, Samuel Costa and Goncalo Guedes have been left out, with Samuel Soares, Nuno Tavares, Joao Palhinha and Fabio Silva coming into the squad.

Portugal Face Busy Nations League Schedule

Portugal are in Group D of the Nations League and will play four matches during the upcoming international window.

They will begin their campaign against Wales on September 24 before facing Norway three days later on September 27. Portugal will then meet Denmark on October 1 and face Norway again on October 4.

With Ronaldo potentially approaching the final stage of his international career, attention will once again be focused on the veteran forward whenever Portugal take the field.
