Hasan Mahmud in the running to be ICC's Player of the Month

Hasan Mahmud made a big contribution to Bangladesh's historic Test victory against Australia in Darwin. He won the Man of the Match award with a total of 9 wickets in the match with his excellent bowling. In recognition of that performance, this Bangladeshi pacer has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for August.

Hasan is in the race for the Massera award with Sri Lanka's Sonal Dinusha and England's Ollie Robinson.

Hasan took 6 wickets for just 55 runs in the first innings of the Test that began in Darwin on August 13. He was also effective in the second innings, taking 3 wickets for 56 runs. Bangladesh defeated Australia by 9 wickets on the strength of his excellent bowling. He bowled one innings without taking a wicket in the second Test of the series in Mackay. However, Hasan finished the series with 9 wickets at an average of 19.77 in both Tests.

Sri Lanka's Sonal Dinusha also shone with the bat in August. He scored a century in the first innings of the first Test against India in Galle and scored 84 runs in the second innings. Then Dinusha was even more brilliant in the second Test in Colombo. After scoring 103 runs in the first innings, he remained unbeaten on 133 runs in the second innings. Sri Lanka was able to draw the match on the strength of his batting.

On the other hand, Ollie Robinson was one of the heroes in England's series win at home against Pakistan. He showed his dominance in the series by taking 8 wickets each in the two Tests - Headingley and Lord's. His bowling was crucial in England's 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Robinson took a total of 16 wickets at an average of just 7.18 in August.
