Disciplinary investigation into Pakistan team on England tour, speculation over two cricketers' phones

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched an internal investigation after some news regarding the discipline and conduct of the Pakistan national cricket team during the tour of England was published in the media. However, the board has not yet released any specific information about what allegations are being investigated or which cricketers are involved in it.

Amir Mir, advisor to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, confirmed the launch of the investigation in a post on social media. He said that the entire matter is being investigated by following the board's established rules and procedures.

According to Amir Mir, all concerned will be given an opportunity to give their statements during the investigation. The PCB is not willing to comment further on the matter before the investigation is completed. At the same time, it has also been urged not to believe the speculative information spread on social media without the official statement of the board.

He has specifically warned against news spread from various unreliable and hostile sources. He advised not to believe any information without verifying the authenticity of it.

The news of the PCB investigation came to light after reports emerged that the mobile phones of two Pakistan cricketers were taken into the custody of the team's security officer for a few hours in London. Pakistani media outlet Geo Super reported that the board has initiated an internal investigation in the wake of this incident.

Another media outlet in the country, 365 News, claimed that the phones of the cricketers were later handed over to the PCB and were supposed to remain with the board until the end of the Edgbaston Test. However, it was not revealed which two cricketers' phones were taken.

Citing unconfirmed sources, Geo Super also said that investigators are looking into the activities of some players and their contacts with some people during their stay in London. It has also been claimed that strict action such as fines or bans may be taken if the allegations are found to be true.

However, the PCB has not yet officially confirmed the seizure of the players' phones or checking the phone data.

After Pakistan's disappointing performance in the first two Tests on the England tour, major changes were made to the team. Midway through the tour, seven cricketers were dropped from the team. Five of the seven replacements are still awaiting their Test debut.

There were also major changes in the coaching staff. Test head coach Sarfraz Ahmed and pace bowling coach Umar Gul were removed from their duties. Later, limited-overs head coach Mike Hesson and bowling coach Ashley Nuff were given the responsibility of the Test team. Misbah-ul-Haq also stepped down from the selectors' post.

Amidst these series of changes in the team, the PCB has now started an investigation into allegations of disciplinary violations. However, the board is keeping the subject of the investigation and the identities of the possible accused secret. The next decision on this matter can be taken only after the internal investigation is completed.
