India Beat Afghanistan by Seven Wickets to Seal T20I Series

India secured the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan with a match to spare after defeating the visitors by seven wickets in the second game at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, September 15.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Afghanistan posted 159 for 8 in 20 overs. Captain Ibrahim Zadran top-scored with 37 off 33 balls, while Rashid Khan and Darwish Rasooli provided valuable runs in the closing stages.

Rashid smashed 28 from just 16 balls, while Rasooli scored 26 off 15 deliveries to help Afghanistan reach a competitive total.

For India, Nitish Kumar Reddy was the standout bowler with three wickets. Arshdeep Singh claimed two, while Jasprit Bumrah, Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel took one wicket each.

Samson and Abhishek Power India to Victory

Chasing 160, India made an aggressive start and completed the chase in just 14.5 overs. They finished on 163 for 3 with 31 balls still remaining.

Sanju Samson produced the innings of the match, smashing 57 from only 22 balls. His explosive knock included seven fours and four sixes.

Abhishek Sharma also played a key role, scoring 39 from 19 deliveries with two fours and four sixes.

Ishan Kishan added 38 from 23 balls, while captain Shreyas Iyer contributed 11. Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 15 from 14 balls to guide India across the finishing line.

Rashid Khan's Three Wickets Not Enough

Rashid Khan was Afghanistan's most successful bowler, taking all three Indian wickets to fall. However, India's aggressive batting ensured that his efforts were not enough to prevent a comfortable defeat.

The victory gives India an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series. Afghanistan will now have the final match to try to avoid a clean sweep, while India will look to complete a 3–0 series victory.
