Crossing the ₹310 crore mark sets a new milestone in Malayalam cinema and marks the biggest success of Nivin's career.
Bethlehem Family Unit, starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, has created history at the Malayalam box office. Within just 26 days of its release, the film's global earnings have surpassed ₹310 crore. With this achievement, *Bethlehem Family Unit* has overtaken *Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra* to claim the record for the highest-grossing Malayalam film.

According to the Indian box office analytics firm Sacnilk, the film’s net collection in India on September 15 was ₹1.40 crore. On that day, across 1,412 screenings, the average audience occupancy stood at 24.7 percent. This brought the film's total net collection in India to ₹149.90 crore. An additional ₹135.50 crore came from overseas markets, bringing the total global earnings to ₹310.55 crore.
There was no significant drop in business even in the fourth week. On September 11, the film earned ₹2.50 crore. The following day, Saturday, earnings rose to ₹3.85 crore. Sunday saw even better results, with collections reaching ₹4.60 crore. On Monday, the film added ₹2.10 crore to its total. Earnings dipped slightly on Tuesday, standing at ₹1.40 crore.
In its first week of release, the film earned ₹52.30 crore. It collected ₹49.85 crore in the second week and ₹33.30 crore in the third week. As audience interest remains high into the fourth week, the film's total earnings continue to rise.
The Malayalam version has contributed the most to the film's success, generating ₹143.25 crore so far. On the 26th day alone, the Malayalam version earned ₹1.25 crore from 1,257 screenings. The Telugu version contributed ₹3.52 crore, while the Tamil version brought in ₹3.13 crore.
*Bethlehem Family Unit* had previously surpassed *Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra* on its 24th day of release; at that time, the film's global earnings stood at ₹304.95 crore. 'Lokah' had a lifetime collection of ₹301.41 crore.
Currently, 'Bethlehem Family Unit' tops the list of the highest-grossing Malayalam films. It is followed by 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra'. 'L2: Empuraan' holds the third spot with earnings of approximately ₹262 crore, while 'Vazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros' ranks fourth with around ₹235 crore, and 'Thudarum' sits in fifth place with about ₹232 crore.
Reportedly, the film was made on a budget of just ₹25 crore. Consequently, its current earnings far exceed the production cost. It also marks the biggest box-office success of Nivin Pauly's career.
Nivin believes that family audiences played a crucial role in the film's success. In an interview with 'Variety India', he described it as the biggest hit of his career. He credited the entire team for this success, specifically praising director Girish A.D. The actor feels that the audience appreciated the age-gap romance, the humor, and the film's overall making style.
According to Nivin, family audiences play a vital role in the business of Indian cinema. When a movie appeals to the entire family, it not only boosts ticket sales but also benefits other businesses associated with the cinema halls.
The story of director Girish A.D.'s 'Bethlehem Family Unit' revolves around a young woman named Ashley and her older neighbor, Justin. The romance unfolds against the backdrop of their age difference, accompanied by humor, emotion, and various family dynamics.
Alongside Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, the film features Sangeeth Prathap, Suresh Krishna, Vinay Forrt, Roshan Shanavas, and Shyam Mohan. It is produced by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil, and Syam Pushkaran. Made under the banner of Bhavana Studios, the film features music by Vishnu Vijay, cinematography by Ajmal Sabu, and editing by Akash Joseph Varghese. 'Bethlehem Family Unit' crossed the ₹310 crore milestone even before the end of its fourth week of release. This achievement not only set a new box-office record in Malayalam cinema but also marked the biggest commercial success of Nivin Pauly's career.
