Inter Milan Complete Stunning Comeback to Beat Udinese 5-3
Inter Milan produced another remarkable comeback after falling two goals behind early on, beating Udinese 5-3 at San Siro to maintain their perfect start to the new Serie A season.
The home side looked stunned after conceding twice inside the opening 16 minutes. But Cristian Chivu's team responded brilliantly, scoring five goals to turn the match around and claim another dramatic victory.
It was the second consecutive time Inter had come from two goals down to win. They had previously recovered from a 2-0 deficit against Napoli to win that match 3-2.
Udinese Take Early Control
The visitors made a dream start at San Siro.
James Abankwah opened the scoring in the ninth minute from a corner, putting Udinese 1-0 ahead.
Just seven minutes later, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp doubled the advantage with a superb finish from Kian Davis' delivery.
Inter were suddenly 2-0 down after just 16 minutes.
But the defending champions quickly found a way back into the match.
Barella Starts the Comeback
Inter reduced the deficit in the 26th minute when Carlos Augusto produced a spectacular long-range strike to make it 2-1.
Ten minutes before halftime, Inter completed their comeback to level the score.
Marcus Thuram provided the pass for Nicolo Barella, who curled a superb effort into the net to make it 2-2.
The momentum had completely shifted before the break.
Inter Take Control After Halftime
Inter came out for the second half with a completely different intensity.
They continued to press Udinese and finally took the lead in the 57th minute. Thuram collected Andy Diouf's pass before firing a low shot into the net to make it 3-2.
Inter then extended their advantage in the 67th minute.
Piotr Zielinski produced an excellent pass for Pio Esposito, who finished calmly to put the hosts 4-2 ahead.
Ten minutes from full time, substitute forward Ange-Yoan Bonny reacted quickest to a rebound from the Udinese goalkeeper and made it 5-2.
Udinese managed a late consolation goal through Idrissa Gueye during stoppage time, but it was not enough to change the result.
Inter Maintain Perfect Start
The 5-3 victory means Inter Milan have now won all four of their Serie A matches this season.
Chivu's side have collected 12 points and sit second in the table, behind Roma only on goal difference.
Roma also have 12 points after beating Torino 2-0.
For Inter, the most impressive aspect of the start to the season has been their ability to recover from difficult situations. Having come from two goals down against Napoli and now Udinese, the Nerazzurri have shown remarkable resilience.
Their latest 5-3 victory at San Siro was another thrilling demonstration of that fighting spirit.
