CPL ends in disappointment for Miraz; Jamaica in the final.

The journey of Mehidy Hasan Miraz's team, Guyana Amazon Warriors, in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) came to an end in the second qualifier. Despite posting a total of 206 runs against Jamaica Kingsmen in Bridgetown, Guyana lost by five wickets and bowed out of the tournament. With this impressive victory, Jamaica secured their spot in the final.

The match was a disappointing one for Miraz as well. With the ball, the Bangladeshi all-rounder conceded 43 runs in four overs without taking a wicket. He did not even get an opportunity to bat.

Guyana's captain introduced Miraz into the attack during the second over of the innings, aiming to quickly dismiss the two left-handed batsmen, Maaz Sadaqat and Kirk McKenzie. However, things started poorly; Sadaqat hit two sixes and a four off Miraz's first over, taking 18 runs.

Miraz returned to bowl the seventh over, immediately following the powerplay, and conceded eight runs. Although he bowled with good control in the subsequent two overs, Pakistani left-hander Saim Ayub hit two sixes off the final two balls of his last over. Consequently, Miraz finished his four-over spell conceding 43 runs without taking a wicket.

Shimron Hetmyer was the architect behind Guyana's total of 206 runs, remaining unbeaten on 102 off just 45 balls. This marked Hetmyer's second century of the current CPL season.

In reply, Jamaica clinched the match through a collective batting effort. After contributions of 41 runs from Sadaqat, 34 from McKenzie, and 56 from Keacy Carty, Rovman Powell unleashed a flurry of big shots towards the end. He steered the team close to victory with an unbeaten knock of 40 runs off just 17 balls. Jamaica sealed the five-wicket win with two balls to spare.

This was Miraz's debut season in the CPL. Playing five matches for Guyana as a replacement for Mohammad Nabi, he claimed a total of nine wickets. All his wickets came during the tournament's first three matches; however, he failed to take any wickets in the playoffs. Miraz did not fare well with the bat either, scoring only 21 runs across four innings at a strike rate of 48.83. Consequently, despite finding early success with the ball, he concluded his debut CPL season on a disappointing note.
